Backup storage estimate
Combine retained full and incremental payloads with supplied storage allowances.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Raw payload=full backup size×copies+daily incremental size×retained days. Multiplies by supplied stored fraction, then adds the capacity allowance. Reports decimal GB/TB and binary GiB. Assumes independent retained payloads; backup-chain rules, actual deduplication, snapshots, immutability and provider billing are not modelled.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Size of one full backup (decimal GB)
- 500
- Full backups retained
- 2
- Incremental changed data per day (GB)
- 10
- Incremental days retained
- 30
- Stored fraction after compression / deduplication (%)
- 70
- Extra capacity allowance (%)
- 20
Example result
- Raw retained payload (GB)
- 1,300
- After supplied stored fraction (GB)
- 910
- Capacity including allowance (GB)
- 1,092
- Capacity (decimal TB)
- 1.092
- Capacity (binary GiB)
