Picture hanging layout
Position a centred picture and one or two aligned hanging points.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Centres the picture horizontally in the available wall width. Picture top is desired centre height + half the picture height; hanging height is top minus your measured drop. Two points sit symmetrically about the horizontal centre. Requires picture and points to fit the stated geometry. The measured drop must include wire stretch/sag if relevant; no fastener or wall load capacity is evaluated.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Available wall width (cm)
- 240
- Picture width (cm)
- 80
- Picture height (cm)
- 60
- Desired picture centre above floor (cm)
- 145
- Hanging point below picture top (cm)
- 8
- Horizontal separation of two hanging points (cm; 0 for one)
- 40
Example result
| Reference point | Distance from wall left (cm) | Height above floor (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| Picture left edge | 80 | 175 |
| Picture right edge | 160 | 175 |
| Left hanging point | 100 | 167 |
| Right hanging point | 140 | 167 |
Picture bottom: 115 cm above floor. Point drop is your measured value; wire sag and fastener strength are not calculated.
