Polynomial arithmetic
Add, subtract or multiply polynomial coefficient lists and export the resulting coefficients.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Aligns coefficients by power for sums and differences and uses coefficient convolution for products. Each input has degree at most 20, so a product may have degree 40. Leading exact zeros are removed; internal zero coefficients remain. Arithmetic is approximate floating point, not symbolic rational simplification.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Polynomial A: descending coefficients
- 1, 2, 1
- Polynomial B: descending coefficients
- 1, -1
- Operation
- A × B
Example result
| Power of X | Coefficient |
|---|---|
| 3 | 1 |
| 2 | 1 |
| 1 | -1 |
| 0 | -1 |
Coefficients are ordered from highest power to constant. Floating-point arithmetic.
