Title case converter for AP, Chicago, APA and MLA
Convert headlines to AP, Chicago, APA or MLA title case, or to sentence case.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Each style lower-cases its list of minor words unless they are the first or last word or follow a colon. AP and APA lower-case articles, short conjunctions and prepositions of three letters or fewer; Chicago and MLA lower-case articles, coordinating conjunctions and prepositions of any length. Sentence case capitalises the first word, “I” and words after sentence-ending punctuation. Words with internal capitals (iPhone), emails and URLs are left alone, and a line typed entirely in capitals is converted fully.

Chicago: lower-case articles, coordinating conjunctions and all prepositions (any length), except as the first or last word or after a colon. Proper nouns cannot be detected in the lower-case styles, so check names. Hyphenated words capitalise each part except minor words after the first.
