Video file size estimator
Estimate a video’s size from duration and combined bitrate.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Total bits = duration seconds × (video Mbps × 1,000,000 + audio kbps × 1,000). Divides by eight for bytes, adds the chosen overhead and shows decimal MB and binary MiB. Variable bitrate and container overhead can change actual size.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Duration (minutes)
- 10
- Average video bitrate (Mbps)
- 8
- Average audio bitrate (kbps)
- 192
- Container allowance (%)
- 2
Example result
- Estimated MB (decimal)
- 626.688
- Estimated MiB (binary)
- 597.65625
- Combined bitrate
- 8.192 Mbps
