DATED, CITED FIGURES

Money by country

Tax rules change by country and by year, and a figure remembered from last year can be wrong. These calculators work from dated tables of official figures instead. Each one says which jurisdiction and period its figures cover, when they were last reviewed and where they come from, and stops working when they expire.

How these are kept honest

  • Every figure is copied from an official page that the calculator cites, and each calculator shows its jurisdiction, period, sources and review date next to the result.
  • A calculator refuses to run on figures that have expired, and the build stops if any figure in use has expired, so stale rates cannot ship quietly.
  • A change in the middle of a year (a Budget, a Spring Statement) is a separate dated version, so a transaction is calculated with the rules in force on its date.
  • Results are estimates, not tax or financial advice. Each calculator lists what it leaves out; check your own position with the authority or a qualified adviser.

Other countries

Only the United Kingdom is listed. A country is added only when someone can check every figure against that country’s official sources: a wrong rate costs more trust than no calculator. The procedure for updating and adding figures is in docs/reference-data.md in the Toolmoz repository.
