Rectangular box fit calculator
Compare uniform grid orientations of smaller boxes inside a larger box.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Tests the six axis-aligned item orientations, removing duplicates. For each, multiplies floor(container dimension/item dimension) along the three axes. Shows whole-item counts using exact integer products. Every item in a tested layout has the same orientation; this is not an optimal mixed-orientation packing solver and excludes clearance, weight and stacking constraints.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Container length (same unit)
- 60
- Container width
- 40
- Container height
- 30
- Item length
- 20
- Item width
- 15
- Item height
- 10
Example result
| Item along length | Item along width | Item along height | Along length | Along width | Along height | Whole items |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | 15 | 10 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 18 |
| 20 | 10 | 15 | 3 | 4 | 2 | 24 |
| 15 | 20 | 10 | 4 | 2 | 3 | 24 |
| 15 | 10 | 20 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 16 |
| 10 | 20 | 15 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 24 |
Tests uniform axis-aligned orientations only; mixed-orientation packing can fit more.
