Latitude & longitude format
Translate signed decimal coordinates and degrees, minutes and seconds.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Converts signed decimal latitude/longitude to DMS, or parses hemisphere-labelled DMS back to signed degrees. South and west are negative. Minutes and seconds must be below 60; coordinates cannot exceed ±90 latitude or ±180 longitude. DMS display rounds to 0.001 arcseconds with carry between units. No datum transformation or location lookup is performed.
