Date range overlap
Find shared days, combined coverage and the gap between two inclusive date ranges.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Treats both ranges as inclusive whole Gregorian dates. Overlap is max(0, min(ends) − max(starts) + 1 day). Union coverage is the two lengths minus overlap. Gap counts dates strictly between disjoint ranges, so adjacent ranges have zero gap. No clock times or holidays are involved.
