Decibels & linear ratio
Convert gain in dB to a linear amplitude or power ratio, and back.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Power dB = 10log₁₀(power ratio). Amplitude dB = 20log₁₀(amplitude ratio), where the power relationship and impedance assumptions apply. The inverse is 10^(dB/factor). Decibels here are relative gain; no absolute dB reference or sound exposure assessment is supplied.
