Instrument fret position calculator
Calculate equal-tempered fret positions along a supplied scale length.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Distance from nut to fret n = scale length × (1−2^(−n/12)). Also shows spacing from the previous fret and remaining vibrating length. Assumes twelve-tone equal temperament and an ideal straight scale; string compensation and physical construction tolerances are excluded.
