Speaker distance delay
Translate a path-length difference into an acoustic alignment delay.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Travel-time difference = (farther path−nearer path)/sound speed. Reports the delay to add to the nearer path in milliseconds. Requires the farther path to be at least the nearer path. Uses geometric travel time only; phase, hardware latency and reflections are excluded.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Nearer speaker path to listener (m)
- 3
- Farther speaker path to listener (m)
- 8
- Assumed sound speed (m/s)
- 343
Example result
- Delay to add to nearer path
- 14.5772594752 ms
- Path difference
- 5 m
