Staff coverage lower bound
Compare required coverage hours with productive hours per person.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Required person-hours=service hours×concurrent people. Available hours per person=scheduled hours×available share. Divides to get a full-time-equivalent lower bound and rounds up for whole staff. Does not construct a feasible rota, check overlapping shifts, skills, rest periods or employment rules.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Service hours to cover per week
- 80
- People required concurrently
- 2
- Scheduled hours per person per week
- 40
- Share available for this coverage (%)
- 80
Example result
- Required coverage person-hours
- 160
- Available hours per person
- 32
- Coverage-equivalent staff
- 5
- Whole-staff arithmetic lower bound
- 5
An arithmetic lower bound; a feasible shift rota may require more people.
