Ideal string tension calculator
Estimate tension from vibrating length, frequency and linear density.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
For an ideal flexible string fixed at both ends, fundamental frequency f = (1/2L)√(T/µ), so T = (2Lf)²µ. Converts g/m to kg/m and reports newtons and kilogram-force equivalents. Uses supplied linear density, not diameter; stiffness, winding and setup effects are excluded.
