Coffee brew ratio calculator
Calculate coffee or brew-water input using a chosen mass ratio.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Uses dry coffee : brew-water input = 1 : ratio, all by mass. Divides water by the ratio or multiplies dose by it. The nominal combined input is shown separately. Brew-water input differs from beverage yield because grounds retain water; this does not model extraction, retention or recommend a brewing ratio.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Known quantity
- Brew-water input
- Known mass (g)
- 300
- Water mass per 1 g of coffee
- 16
Example result
- Dry coffee dose
- 18.75 g
- Brew-water input
- 300 g
- Combined input mass
- 318.75 g
- Coffee : water input ratio
- 1 : 16
Water input is not the finished beverage yield; grounds retain some water.
