Macramé cord cutting budget
Turn a measured knot multiplier into cut lengths and spool counts.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Per-cord cut length = finished working length × your measured cord-use multiplier + two tail allowances. Multiplies by number of cords and rounds spool quantity up. Use a sample knot section to choose the multiplier; folded/doubled cords must use consistent entered lengths. Does not assume all knots consume the same amount.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Finished working length (m)
- 1
- Measured cord-use multiplier
- 4
- Tail allowance at each end (m)
- 0.15
- Number of cut cords
- 16
- Usable cord per spool (m)
- 100
Example result
- Cut length per cord (m)
- 4.3
- Total cord length (m)
- 68.8
- Spools required
- 1
Cut length = finished length × your measured knot multiplier + two tail allowances. No universal knot multiplier is assumed; folded cords need dimensions entered consistently.
