Quilt binding calculator
Plan straight-grain binding strips and fabric yardage from a quilt perimeter.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Required binding is 2(length + width) plus your extra allowance. Joined length from n strips is n × usable fabric width − (n−1) × join loss. Rounds strip count up and multiplies by cut strip width to obtain fabric length. A zero join loss treats joining as part of your extra allowance. Uses straight-grain strips; bias binding is a separate layout problem.
