Resistor tolerance checker
Compare a set of measured resistances against a nominal value and tolerance.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Lower/upper limits = nominal × (1 ∓ tolerance/100). Checks up to 10,000 non-negative resistance readings against inclusive boundaries and reports signed deviation. Uses a relative floating-point boundary tolerance of eight machine epsilons. Instrument uncertainty, calibration, temperature and specification-specific acceptance rules are not inferred.

Worked example
A fixed demonstration, separate from the values you enter above.
- Nominal resistance (Ω)
- 1000
- Symmetric tolerance (%)
- 5
- Measured resistances (Ω), separated by spaces or commas
- 950, 980, 1000, 1040, 1050, 1060
Example result
| Reading | Resistance (Ω) | Signed deviation (%) | Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 950 | -5 | Within stated limits |
| 2 | 980 | -2 | Within stated limits |
| 3 | 1,000 | 0 | Within stated limits |
| 4 | 1,040 | 4 | Within stated limits |
| 5 | 1,050 | 5 | Within stated limits |
Inclusive range: 950 Ω to 1,050 Ω. Measurement uncertainty is not included.
