Work by a constant force
Calculate work from force, displacement and their angle.
A clear answer. Here’s how.
Work W = force × displacement × cos(angle), in joules for newtons and metres. Assumes a constant force. Work can be negative when the force opposes the displacement; path-dependent or varying forces need integration.
